SEQ CHAPTER \h \r 1LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT:
I hope you are all enjoying the summer. I think the upcoming July meeting will be fun. Learn something new, teach something, and of course good food. The guild is supplying the hot dogs, buns and condiments. Please bring a dish to pass. The Round Robin are to be revealed. I am excited !!! All of the ones I have been seen are great. I would like to take them ALL home with me. Round Robins are a challenge but that the fun / learning part of quilting.
I am looking forward to the August Show with Beth Ferrier (http://applewd.com .) Have a good summer and hope to see you at the meetings.
Bonnie Keen, President
HELP NEEDED: An URGENT REQUEST was made by Hospice (Wheel-lock campus. ) They have asked Sandy Kipp to make / donate a quilt (Queen size-Old fashioned "sampler style" quilt) to be raffled off at Holly Days Festival in Holly, MI this August 14th Money raised goes to "Camp Brave-Heart" where children receive counseling for the death of a family member. In the past a one day quilt raffle for this organization has earned almost $1,000 from a donated quilt.
Sandy is wondering if someone would :
(1) Donate a quilt top. She would then finish the work on it. Contact Sandy as soon as possible if you can donate a quilt top.
OR
(2) If anyone has blotto blocks or any collection of blocks that you do not plan to use, would you be willing donate to Sandy to make up the quilt top.
OR
(3) Can guild members make (12 inch) or donate ( any size) blocks using a THIMBLEBERRIES fabric and bring to the July 29th meeting. (Using Thimbleberries fabric would result in a coordinated, cohesive quilt that would easily make a beautiful quilt.)
Please bring them to meeting July 29, or mail the blocks to Sandy. ( Call her for more details or questions. ) Sandy plans to put the quilt together and quilt it, but it needs to be done soon as the festival is August 14th.
Thank-you, Sorry for the short notice but the request was made last week. Contact Sandy if you have any questions or can help her out.
Sandy Kipp 810-658-6402 6455 North Oak Rd, Davison MI 48423
Charms Squares Due in August Hot summer colors of lime, orange and lemon are being exchanged. Fabric must be pre washed, quilt shop quality and SIX & one half inches in size. Sign up at the meetings.
Blotto: We had our drawing for the blotto blocks at our last meeting. A new pattern will be presented at the next meeting.
Workshop with Kay Nichols There will be only 12 openings for the workshop with Kay Nichols on Saturday, August 22nd (9:30 til 4:30 pm.) Kay told Ann that we will need double tables, Flannel backed tablecloth and digital camera for designing our quilt tops. A complete supply list will be handed out upon payment for the class.
Newsletter:
It is time to reevaluate the effectiveness of EMAIL delivery of the newsletter. A sign up sheet was passed at the last meeting. It will make the rounds at our next meeting too. You will have an opportunity to keep the delivery system you currently have or change it. ( You can also contact me via email davisonevengingstarquiltguild@gmail.com OR drop me a note at 4802 Genesee, Lapeer Mi 48446 if you are unable to sign up at the meetings)
I am hoping to resolve some of the problems of non delivery that has occurred. Part of the problems that have occurred in the past was due to GOOGLE’S (g-mail) upgrading to a newer format this past couple of months. I have dial-up through Cavalier and the service has been impacted negatively ( even slower), but the bump off issue has since resolved.
I am unable to deliver email to those members who do not have MS-WORD on their computer. Apparently members who have a different word processing software program (WORD PERFECT) are unable to open the MS WORD documents. I no longer have access to a computer with the WORD PERFECT program so I will be unable to email a newsletter using the WORD PERFECT documents.
In the future I will attempt to get the newsletter out by the 15th of the month both by print and email. Yvonne Stevenson is arranging for the printing and mailing of the newsletters.

Four Corners and Pot Luck in July July’s meeting will be pot luck. Bring your favorite beverage and bring a dish to pass. We also be doing FOUR CORNERS. This year’s 4 corners are being taught by Charlotte (Charley) Coucher, Ginny George, Shirley Miles and Anne Wohlfiel . I have always liked four corners night because I have learned new block/ quilt patterns and techniques. They frequently refresh my knowledge of basic skills that I have forgotten when I attend these quilting skill modules. I find that I have been using the tips and tricks I have learned at fourcorners.
For the new/ all members: Four Corners are a great way to improve your quilting skills, and learn new techniques. Four Corners ( usually 4 or 6 corners) is demonstration of various quilting techniques taught by members of the guild. The sessions are about 15 minutes long. We ask that you stay the entire time at each demonstration and not skip ahead. Please do not interrupt a session that is already in progress if you missed the beginning of the session. Questions are always welcome.

Hosted at Davison Senior Center 9am til 9pm Cost is divided among all the quilters that come to the event. ( I paid less than $10 the time I got to go.) This is usually a pot luck event, everyone brings a dish to pass. The large tables are set up so that you can set up your sewing station anyway you need. Large design boards are available for our use. Sew in a group or by yourself. You do need to bring your project, machine if needed, and any basic quilting and pressing equipment you may need. Work on one project or a dozen. Quilt Retreat is a great way to get ideas and input from other quilters. This is just in time to finish your holiday projects and gifts. OPEN to guild members and non members, any quilter that wants to show up. Bring your friends, have a great time sewing without interruption among a great group of quilters.

Metamora Days ( inside the town hall,) the Blueberry festival, Willcot Mills in Romeo during one of their summer events.
